tHe FiRsT dAy Of ThE rEsT oF oUr LiVeS...

This post may be a little too mushy for some of you,
but for those who love a little romance,
keep readin...

Exactly one year (365 days) ago, the most
UNEXPECTED, yet INCREDIBLE
thing happened to me.

I was asked on a date by someone who I thought
was just another face in the classroom,
but it turned out to be my prince charming.

Yes, I was thrown off guard when he asked me on a date, seeing
how he and I had only said maybe two sentences to each other previously.
Yes, I was cautious because he wore bandannas to class all the time,
which made me thing he was "too cool for school."
And yet, "Yes" was my answer to his question.

Knowing I had been single for a few months now,
I figured it would just be like any other date.
But I was wrong... Very very wrong.

The date went well, completely not awkward at all.
Why? Because I talked the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME!!
He got a few words in every once in a while.
(That still hasn't changed much... :)

From eating at Guru's, to playing games with his roommates,
It was still just any other ordinary activity,
with a NOT SO ORDINARY guy.

From that day on, this boy and I were inseparable.

There wasn't a day that went by that we weren't laughing together.
In fact, he has been the highlight of my day, everyday, since the day we met.

One and a half weeks after this date,
seeing each other every day on our free time,
he kissed me for the first time.

Two weeks after this date,
He officially asked me to be his girlfriend
The same night that we also said the three words..
"I Love You!"

One and a half months after this date,
he placed a ring on my finger.

Five and a have months later,
we were kneeling at the alter,
making our eternal covenants to each other.

Yes, things happened fast,
and we get many " bad looks" because of it,
but I would not go back and change a single thing.

Thank you Nick Dargel for getting the courage to ask
me out on Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
I Love You!!

From that day on, my life have never been the same...

6 Months Already!?

I can't believe we're already celebrating our
six month anniversary!
Honestly though, it has been the best six months of my life.
"What did we do to celebrate" you ask..?

Well since it fell on a Monday, Nick works until midnight
every Monday night! So we knew we had to do
something during the day. We slept in, which was
so good because usually are mornings are crazy busy.

He went to the office for a bit, while I got ready.
As soon as he got home, I had the bright idea of going out to lunch!
I have been craving it for far too long now,
so our six month anniversary was the best excuse!

Yep, that's right!! Tucano's!
It was absolutely delish!
I'd go back again and again for those
cheese ball and garlic sirloin.
Oh and not to mention the grilled pineapple!
Oh man, I love Tucanos!

But I love something even more.... Nick!
I am so blessed to have him in my life!

Thanks for the amazing 6 months babe!
6 months down, infinity more to go...
I love you!

Count Your Blessings

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to
move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence."

That quote is definitely for me.
I know we can all somehow apply it to ourselves.

Everyone goes through these phases,
Thinking the grass is always greener on the other side.
Never happy with what they have,
And always wanting more, more, more.

Well recently, I was in this phase.
Our one-bedroom apartment isn't big enough,
Or decorated all festively as most houses we walk into this time of year.
We don't make enough money or
get as many hours as we'd like to at our jobs.
I don't have children like everyone else, so I don't fit in the way I'd like to.
I don't have as cute of clothes as everyone else,
or have all the yummy food filling our cupboards or refrigerator.

I had to snap out of this phase, but it was so hard for me to do.
I changed my attitude and began to count my blessings.

Whether or not my apartment is big, clean, and decorated,
I am so blessed to even have a roof over my head.
Even if our jobs don't pay as much as we'd like,
At least we are blessed enough to have jobs with this economy.
No, my personal little family is not growing at the rapid rate I'd like,
But at least I am blessed enough to have the man of
My dreams that I come home to daily.
He's the best companion I could ask for,
and can bring a smile to my face at any given moment.
Our food storage may not be the same as someone who's been saving for years,
But slowly we're getting there, one day at a time.
I am just grateful that I even have food to eat each day.

Once I began to count my blessings, things began to look
a lot "brighter" for us because of my own personal attitude change.
Because we pay our tithing faithfully, Nick got a job promotion.
He is now manager, which comes with a big raise, and more hours.
(And more responsibility, but he can handle it)
I am go grateful for the blessings that the Lord has given me and Nick.

They keep coming and coming, (not just to us, but to everyone).
They're always there, it's just a matter of your personal outlook.
Take a second to look around at all that you are blessed with, and
I can promise you that things will instantly begin to look brighter for you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

How do you afford a baby?

Nick and I are considering "trying" to have a baby in the near future, and we're not sure how anyone in this world can afford one. So this blog is for people who have been through the whole baby process... What insurance did you get on? How much did you pay monthly? Deductible? Etc... If you have any advice on this, let me know. I have heard from multiple people that you need to be on it for at least a month before you get pregnant, so we kinda want to get on it soon. So would you help a sista out? Thanks guys! :)

Herpes...

Yep, you read the title right. I. HAVE. HERPES!! Okay, okay.. Just a form of it. It's a cold sore. Haha. I know, way less dramatic, but it still is a form.. It's absolutely disgusting. I didn't even feel it coming on, which is super weird because every time I've had one in the past, I could feel it coming on for days. Not this one. Nick left to his Rugby game, giving my smooth lips a kiss, to me greeting him after his game with a giant cold sore. Honestly, it was that fast. Like the blink of an eye. Slowly it is going away, but I just wanted to invite you guys to share my pain. If you've never seen what a cold sore looks like, here is a perfect picture. No, this is not me. I don't have a mustache. But this is the exact positioning as mine, and about the same size.
Hope you enjoy! :)

Baby hungry? Just a little..

So I cannot even express how baby hungry I am!! I always said I would have kids right off after being married,  but Nick wants to wait a year!! So, we compromised... We're going to start trying in February!! Not TOO long away, right? Not!!! Every day feels like a lifetime! So in the meantime, I am just enjoying babysitting my nieces and nephews! It passes the time a LITTLE quicker! We babysat Brooklyn and Miley (Em's kids) not too long ago and this is what we did... Hahaha. Those are bullet bike helmets that we had at our house. They honestly look like aliens because the helmets are huge! They are so cute!!

Then, I have also been babysitting Druw and Mckynlee too! Here are a few pictures!! I seriously cannot get enough of all of my nieces and nephews!! Call me the permanent babysitter!! I love it!

And to top off my baby hungryness, here is what I did to McKynlee!

It was the best I could do. She kept bumping them and trying to grab the color on her toes! In fact, she tried putting it in her mouth because she thought it was supposed to be tasty. Next time, I will wait until she's asleep to do it. That way she won't move, and they can dry all the way. It was so cute too because I let Druw pick the color and he blew on them to get dry. When he saw the finished product, he said "Oh....BEAUTIFUL!!" I seriously love ALL my nieces and nephews!! And my love is being spread out more and more now because we just added three more, and one is due next week! Emily had another one about 8 weeks ago, Tina had hers a week and a half ago, Kate had hers yesterday, and Fia is due sometime next week. We just had family pictures in July, and now we have almost 4 more to add to that picture! My family is growing SOOO fast and I absolutely LOVE it!!

Oh, and I almost forgot... Nick is JUST as baby hungry as me! We were at the grocery store the other day, and he saw some sippie cups and he said "Sher, we should buy some sippies!!" I had the most confused look on my face, and then he said "Uh, for when we babysit our nieces and nephews!!" So, we ended up buying some. Then, every time we get free time, he says "Are any of the kids at your mom's? Let's go check and hang out with them!" He watched McKynlee the other day, just by himself, and he told me ALL about it on the way home. "She was so tired, and was fighting her nap. I tried putting her down, but she just wanted to play. So I played with her, watching her try her hardest to stay awake! So finally, I swaddled her up and sang  her primary songs. She watched me so intently until she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. It was SOOO cute!"  He loves them just as much as I do! He'll be such a good daddy!!

What do YOU do when you've got time to kill?

It's a Saturday afternoon, you're home with just you and your husband, and you have a few hours to kill? What's the first thing that you want to do? Well, I don't know about you, but I wanted to style Nicks hair! He is growing it out right now so he can dread it. (It's one of his life long goals, so I am not about to get in the was of it.) It's getting pretty long, so I wanted to see if I could corn roll it. I figure the first thing I had to do was straighten it so it would be easier to manage. Here's what he looked like with it just straightened. Hahahahahahaha. Totally Asian! He's even doing the peace sign, but it got cut out of the picture.
So after I straightened it, I began my first attempt to corn roll. Oh how frustrated I got. Finally, after about 25 minutes and about 1000 attempts, I told him I was just going to experiment and we'll see how it turns out. As I was doing it, I was trying to explain to him what it was I was doing, and he started getting worried saying that he was going to look like a little black girl with her hair in rubber bands. I tried to reassure him that he didn't and we just needed to wait until it was finished. Half way through, I ran out of rubber bands, so I ran to the store. I made him PROMISE me that he wouldn't look in the mirror while I was gone. He kept his word. When I finally got home, I did the last few rows, and finished my first "corn rolling" experience. He're is what the finished product looked like.

We ended up going to a BBQ at his friend Kyle's that night and he put a bandanna over it. He totally looked like a thug, and I loved it! Hopefully he'll let me experiment on him again! :)

Co-Ed Soccer Team!

So I can't stop thinkin about it! I have my first co-ed soccer game today! I am kinda nervous about it, but SOOO excited at the same time. I love how competitive it is when you're playing with guys, but I also hate when they don't pass it to you because they don't think "you're good enough." We have our first game in like 4 hours, and it is all I can think about! I'm pretty dang excited!! I bet you're all wondering if Nick is playing too? Nope. They invited him, but he's playing Rugby right now and doesn't want to risk getting hurt playing on a little indoor team. So, it's just me! But he'll still be there to cheer me on! Can't wait! :)

"Paradise." The one word says it all.

So for the past 11 days, my hubby and I have been in Hawaii! It was AMAZING! I could try and explain to you about all of the beauty, but I can't find the words to actually describe it. I have hundreds of pictures, but they just don't give it justice. Kauai is DEFINITELY a place you should all put on your "must visit" list! I will just give you an outline, with pictures, of the things we did in Hawaii!

We got there late in the evening, about when the sun was setting. Now, you gotta understand that this was my first time on a plane, so I was amazed at everything! This was the first picture I took of the "sunset" in Hawaii. It was such a beautiful sight.

Since it was pretty late (Utah time), we decided to hit the sack early, which meant only one thing... we woke up early the next morning! When I say early, I mean like 3:00am early. Which is 7:00am in Utah, the time Nick and I usually wake up. What is there to do at 3 in the morning? Well, we forced ourselves to get at least one more hour of sleep so we wouldn't be completely drained. So about 4:30ish, we decided to go for a walk on the beach, which was right across the street from our condo. As we walked, we saw some pretty amazing things... blow fish, flowers, coral, and my favorite...the homeless man with dreads. I didn't dare to take a picture, so let me explain. He was standing out on a rock in the Ocean, with dreads down to his knees. White, loose button up shirt, with cut off pants. The wind was blowing, which meant so were his dreads. He looked like Pocahontas. It was hilarious. Later that day, we met up with his family and went to the "touristy" sights. It was, by far, the most beautiful lookout I have ever seen. So beautiful, in fact, that they used footage from this place in the temple video. (Shhhh...don't tell!)

We went to plenty of other beautiful sights, but that was by far my favorite.

Since we were there for 11 days, we got to go to church TWICE!! This was an amazing experience for me. Going to a place where I was foreign to everything, it felt good to find something familiar.

Of course, there was tons and tons and TONS of swimming! In the ocean, pool, hot tubs. You name it, we swam there. We even got to swim with giant sea turtles and beautiful colorful fish.

We spent a lot of time with our family. Cousins, Uncles, Aunties, brothers, sisters, mom and dad. And of course friends! :)

But my favorite thing of all was spending ALL my time with my hubby.

Yes, that is his bum crack.

I didn't notice until AFTER the picture was taken. Ha ha. Oh well, makes for a good laugh.

You can't go to Hawaii without getting a picture of a flower in your hair.

Or getting a snow cone the size of your head.

Or getting a picture flashin' the "Hang Loose" sign.

Or going on a romantic date...

We put aside one night to go on a date. That night was amazing. He took me to a place called "Spouting Horn," which is a beautiful place on the beach where the water shoots us like a geyser. Then to dinner at a fancy restaurant with delicious food. To finish off the night, we went to the beach and listened the waves as we talked and remminisced about our wonderful vacation. I cannot even express how much I love my man. He's definitely my the best friend I could ever ask for.

Eventually, we had to leave this paradise and return back to real life. When we laid down to sleep the last night, I ended up breaking down in tears. I had such an amazing time. I got to spend every waking minute with Nick. As soon as we would get off that plane, work, school, and LIFE would come rushing back to us. We would see each other only a few hours a day, if we were lucky. The thought of that just made me cry. I love being with Nick. Now I just have to cherish the few moments that our schedules don't conflict and we get to spend precious time together.

Goodbye Hawaii. Thanks for the great memories! :)

Attempting to Blog

So honestly, this is my first time being in charge of a blog! Lots of pressure, I know. I cannot get any worse, and I am confident I will get better, with the help of all of you that is. I will tell you a little about us and what's going on. Mmmmkay?

First off, Nick and I have been married for 3 months and 1 day. Long time, I know. But what a 3 months and 1 day it has been! I have loved pretty much every minute of it. We're still adjusting to the whole "married life," but we're doing it together, which makes it all the more fun. I was asked the question yesterday, "What do you think is the hardest thing about being married, and what is your favorite thing about being married?" Hmmmm. That's a tough one. Of course, I wanted to say that hardest part first, so I could end on a good note. I would have to say the toughest part about being married is adjusting to living with someone of the opposite sex. We do things differently. He's cleans right after something gets dirty, I wait until there is lots to clean. Just one tiny example. It's different being with someone ALL the time. I love love LOVE it!! BUT, I just feel bad because I take all my frustration out on him because I am with him all the time. Even if my frustration has nothing to do with him at all. It makes me feel bad and I always apologize. So, personally, that is the toughest thing that I have faced SO FAR being married. My favorite thing about being married is waking up to him. I don't know what it is, but I just get so happy every morning, seeing him by my side. There are very few things that are better. I sometimes purposely set my alarm clock for earlier so it will wake me up and I will have time to cuddle between hitting the snooze button. I do that just about every morning. You gotta make time to cuddle!! :) It is really comforting to me also to know that I am going to be with him for eternity. That I can wake up every morning for the rest of EVER next to my best friend in the whole world. Does it get better than that? I am very easy to please, obviously, if waking up is my favorite thing. Trust me, with Nick, everything is amazing!

I am very lucky to have met him when I did. Now that I have him in my life, I don't know I would do without him. I am very excited to see what the future brings. Life is definitely an adventure married to Nick. Anyways, this is just my first post, so I will not make it any longer than it needs to be. Thanks for reading. Love ya.
